Leineperi Ironworks offers something for everyone.
The unique ironworks environment is home to several museums, artisan shops, and numerous summer outdoor activities. You can dive into history from many angles, the events are abundant, and the shopping and dining opportunities are excellent.
The history of Leineperi Ironworks dates back a quarter of a millennium.
The buildings in the area offer a glimpse into the past in themselves, and our museums allow you to delve even deeper into the past.
The two ironworks scale models at information building tell stories of the past. One depicts the industrial buildings of the ironworks before the 1860s reforms, and the other, a scale model equipped with lighting effects, depicts the entire ironworks village on August in 1895.
The restored childhood home of Olympic champion Kaarlo Kangasniemi displays the weightlifter's collection of awards.
The museum offers guided tours led by Kaarlo himself – complete with stories and selfies.
The museum presents 1920s living in the ironworks.
The apartment is personally wallpapered with 1920s newspapers, which offer visitors interesting reading material.
Leineperi Ironworks is one of the best preserved and most complete ironworks complexes in Finland.
The ironworks includes, among other things, the only log-foundation blast furnace left in Finland and a still-functioning mill.
On a summer day in the ironworks area, you can enjoy yourself in your own style.
There are fun activities for the whole family, from a frisbee golf course to a children's treasure hunt and geocaching to kayaking courses. Leineperi's facilities are also ideal for peaceful hiking, and groups will find good facilities for meetings, parties and events.
Leineperi Summer Theater presents the play "Salainen Puutarha" on Friday, June 28th at 6pm.
The play will be performed until the end of July on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Leineperi's summer is full of immersive events.
Art and handicraft lovers will be delighted by the changing exhibitions in the Juustokellari, for example.
With the media guide, you can explore the history and buildings of the area.
The route is about 2 km long and the tour takes about 30 minutes. The guide is also available in English.
