Leineperi Ironworks offers sights and activities for all ages. This unique ironworks environment is home to several museums, artisan shops, and numerous outdoor summer activities. Museums and historical sites

The history of Leineperi Ironworks spans a quarter of a millennium. The area's buildings themselves offer a glimpse into the past, and our museums provide an even deeper dive into bygone times.

Scale models

The Information building's two scale models tell stories of the past. One depicts the ironworks' industrial buildings before the renovations of the 1860s, while the other, enhanced with light effects, showcases the entire ironworks village on an August day in 1895.

Kangasniemi Sport's museum

In the restored birthplace of Olympic champion Kaarlo Kangasniemi, you can view the weightlifter's award collection. The museum offers the chance to get a guided tour from Kaarlo himself—complete with stories and selfies.

Museum apartment

The museum showcases 1920s living in the ironworks. The apartment is uniquely wallpapered with 1920s newspapers, offering visitors interesting reading material.

Industrial buildings

Leineperi Ironworks is one of the best-preserved and most complete ironworks areas in Finland. The site features, among other things, the only surviving clay-timber blast furnace in Finland and a still-operating mill.

At the ironworks site, you can enjoy a summer day in your own style. There are fun activities for the whole family, from the suitably challenging frisbee golf course to the children's treasure hunt, geocaching, and kayaking courses. Leineperi’s setting is also perfect for peaceful hiking, and groups will find excellent facilities for meetings, celebrations, and events.

Mobile guide

With the mobile guide, you can explore the area's history and buildings. The route is about 2 km long, and the tour takes approximately 30 minutes.

Guided tours

Under the guidance of an expert guide, you and your group can dive deeper into the history of the ironworks. We offer group tours both on the ironworks site and in all our museums, emphasizing an immersive experience.
